HAPPY 127TH BIRTHDAY ACS!!!

Can I just say that transferring to ACS(P), and later choosing ACS(I) over RI, are among my best choices in life that I would never ever ever change. Heck, if not for ACS, I still might be the timorous guy that would begin tearing in fear before even managing to confess to a teacher that I hadn't brought my spelling book from home! (Which would make the teacher too scared to even scold me thereafter, no matter how mad they were with the class before, lololol!)

Truly a school with a rich culture (and by "rich" I don't necessarily mean "wealthy"...), I was blessed with a good mix of amusing, interesting and inspiring teachers, and an ever increasing circle of close friends with sound personal values (: Growing up in an environment which allowed and even endorsed religious activities on campus is certainly a rare experience.

I'd write more, but I think my chance meeting with a random ACSian on the MRT today all too aptly captures the essence of the ACSian Spirit, which many have tried and failed to put into words and descriptors.

I was decked out in a formal shirt and the Secondary school tie, on my merry way to my church care group - secretly brimming with pride with the tie around my neck (thank God the office rush hour lets one wear a tie and formal shirt without seeming pretentious...). Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed a guy looking my way with the look of someone wanting to say something, but restraining himself out of hesitance or uncertainty. I looked his way, and he immediately burst out, "Eh, ACS! Founders' Day today right?"

"Haha, yea! Whoo, ACS!" I cried as a grin spread across my face.

"I'm from ACS too!" he replied excitedly.

Feeling the awkwardness of the people we were talking across, I moved over to where he was and began talking like friends. It was so easy, and felt so natural - like talking to a long lost pal that I never knew even existed!

He turned out to be a Year 7, incidentally from 6.01 as well, except from the Class of 2012 of course. We exchanged stories about our days in ACS, the mutual friends we had... It really was cool! (: We hardly knew each other beforehand, but we just... clicked!

There's just something unique about our AC culture and family, that even though you may not know each other, even though you come from different AC schools from different time periods, but an AC boy will be significantly different from others, and you can truly say from the bottom on your heart that we are indeed one family. We're just that special.

ACS is really one of a kind, and I'm so privileged to have been be a part of the family.

AMEN;
